While we don’t typically premiere tracks over here at Space Age Hustle, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be the first to share Philly rapper Lushlife’s new single, “Big Sur”, from his forthcoming album Plateau Vision, due April 17th off of Western Vinyl. We’ve been checking for dude since his head-turning track with SAH favorite Cities Aviv, “She’s A Buddhist, I’m a Cubist”, where dude spits some slick rhymes that juxtapose well with Cities’ baritone flow. “Big Sur” features some lush, psychedelic production from Botany that recalls Edan’s best tracks, as well as fellow Philly natives, the Roots, at their loosest. On the vocals, Lushlife spits hard again, referencing one of rap’s best one-off tracks ever, Smoothe da Hustler and Trigger tha Gambler’s “Broken Language”. Definitely will be checking for the album. Take a listen.

they’re telling boulder heavy lies
looks like all we’ve got is each other
the truth is obsolete
remember when all i had was my mother
she didn’t compromise
she could recognize
voodoo
our daughters and our sons
are just candles in the sun
voodoo
don’t let him see divide
don’t you let her see divide
voodoo
she’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit
he’s got the whole wide world in his pants
he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
then put the whole wide world on her hands
she’s got the whole wide world in her hands
he’s got the whole wide world in his hands.
